Qoros is a joint venture between a Chinese outfit and a company from Israel. Founded in 2007, the Qoros brand launched three models to date, with a fourth to arrive sometime next year. This is it and no, it’s a different model from the Qoros 3 City SUV that debuted last year.
Up to this point, the company prides itself with the Qoros 3 Sedan, Qoros 3 Hatch and Qoros 3 City SUV. Despite the heavy camouflage, we can identify 3-inspired styling cues on the prototype at hand. According to our source, even the vehicle platform is based on the one used by the Qoros 3.

This test mule is puzzling. Why would the manufacturer need yet another 3-based crossover SUV? The Geneva Motor Show of 2015 saw the launch of the Qoros 3 City SUV. In this regard, wouldn’t a similar model cannibalize sales of the 3 City SUV?

Mind you, it gets worse than this. The Chinese company sold approximately 7,000 vehicles last year, 51 of them in Europe. Five. One. Consequently, Qoros CEO Phil Murtaugh declared that the brand will be reconsidering its European ambitions, but they’ll not fully give up on Europe just yet.

What’s the deal with the all-new model our carparazzi spied testing in Europe? Your guess is just as good as ours. It rides higher than the 3 City SUV, it’s a wee bit longer, it has a taller glasshouse, it features the same type of headlight and fog light design, and a similar curvature for the rear three-quarter windows.

But there’s a catch to this mystery prototype: those taillamp graphics and the placement of the rear fog lights are all-new for the Qoros brand. In terms of powertrain options, expect to get a 1.6-liter turbo petrol with 156 brake horsepower, mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox.
