Aren’t you lucky to live in the era of Internet and radio-controlled cars? Fifty years ago, all you got if you went to the office to check on the used car you were thinking of buying was a lollipop and some sore feet if you wore those new shoes.
The idea behind the My Car Check website is simple: all cars must have a transparent history, and it’s hard for individuals to know where to look for it. That’s why it gathers up information from several official agencies - like the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), the Association of British Insurers (ABI), major finance houses and, of course, the police - and allows people who want to know more about their cars the opportunity to get the full history.

According to My Car Check, a third of used cars have some sort of hidden history, but with so many sources available, it’s hard to imagine you can keep anything away from this website. From major things like stolen cars or severely damaged ones to more trivial stuff like a color change or minor scratches - everything will be displayed in front of you after just a few clicks.

Of course, the service is restricted to cars registered in the UK, but the contest isn’t, and that’s why we’re here. If you’re wondering what’s the occasion, it’s because My Car Check website has a new look, and to celebrate that (and also make people access the site - you know how the Internet works), it’s giving away five HPI Racing radio-controlled Ford Mustangs.

Now, while the car itself isn’t the greatest RC model you’ll find out there, it will still provide plenty of fun and, hey, it’s free. All you need to do is answer a simple question - What is the name of the 1967 Mustang in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds? A) Eleanor B) Betty, or C) Hilary - and you’re in with a chance.

And since we don’t like to play fair, we’ll give you the answer: we all know it’s Hilary. Hilary Clinton, if I recall correctly. Or was it Betty Boop? Bah, now I have to watch the film again (any excuse is a good one).
