MV Agusta Debuts in India with Five Models

The long-awaited moment has arrived for MV Agusta, as the historical Italian manufacturer finally opened their first showroom in India, in the city of Pune. The showroom opens today, and together with their local (and previous engineering) partner Kinetic Group, MV Agusta brings forth the Motoroyale brand.

It may sound funny to some, but MV Agusta looks more determined than ever to reclaim their status as a maker of sports bikes "par excellence." That is because we saw House Schiranna bringing only sport machines in India, in the shape of two 800 bikes, the F3 800 and F3 800 RC, and three liter-class superbikes, the Brutale 1090, F4 and F4 RR.

Alongside these five motorbikes, MV Agusta and Kinetic plan to bring a sixth model in India, but this one is also going to be a superbike, no other than Schiranna's flagship F4 RC beast. The MV Agusta F4 RC will make it's trip to India later this year, and will be sold at an estimated price equivalent to $75,000 or €65,750.

On the other hand, the cheapest MV Agusta in India will be the F3 800, which retails for $25,200 or €22,100. The price of the F3 800 is also significantly lower than what we expected because MV Agusta will deliver this bike in SKD (semi knocked-down) version. The F3 800 will be assembled in India in one of the existing plants, and we can expect that more models will be added to the production line.

MV Agusta and Kinetic officials admitted that the mid-term plans are to have even the top-of-the-line liter-class superbikes imported as separate parts and assembled in the Indian plant to skip import taxes and reduce the final price in the showroom.

The Italian manufacturer and its Indian partner envisage opening no less than six dealerships in the country this year, including the one in Pune, with their plans seeing around 300 motorcycles sold in 2017. The next year should bring four to five additional showrooms, autocarindia reports.

The expansion towards the Indian market may be a good sign for MV Agusta, which isn't passing through the happiest days of its history. The company has a debt that has to be paid, and a loan that is conditioned by AMG securing a participation of at least 20% in the Italian maker.

Among the latest rumors from the Italian industry, MV Agusta is believed to be searching for other investors while downsizing the production, in an attempt to get rid of AMG and buying back their 25% stock. Time will tell what will happen with MV Agusta, anyway.
