Mustang Shelby GT350 Takes On Ferrari F12berlinetta in Unusual Drag Race

We have to admit we'd have a bit of a hard time explaining why a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 (keep in mind we're dealing with a stock animal here) would drag race a Ferrari F12berlinetta.

Then again, many people don't see the point of drag racing altogether, so we'll go past this detail to discuss the high-velocity episode.

Since we mentioned the track-savvy pony's factory stock condition, we'll tell you the same is true for the Maranello machine. Such an aspect shouldn't be taken for granted - now that the F12 (you can check out our review here) has started to age, with the Prancing Horse introducing the manic F12 Tour de France, more and more F12berlinetta owners are turning to the aftermarket side of the industry in order to have their Fezza speed polished. We're thankful this isn't one of those cars, as we've rarely seen a Ferrari whose value has increased through tuning.

The V12 Grand Tourer and the athletic Mustang engage in a half-mile drag race. The two use a standing start, with the trap speed being the performance number that matters.

Once the two cars get up to speed, it quickly becomes obvious the Blue Oval machine loses quite a lot of time when the driver has to shift. Now, there are two components here - first of all, no manual can match the shift time of the F12's dual-clutch tranny. Then there's the Mustang driver's shifting, which we hope he'll improve as he gets to know his 2016MY GT350 better.

Despite the Shelby struggle mentioned above, we reckon the Ford did an awesome job in the end. The time has come to invite you to scroll over to the video below and check out the difference between the two vehicles, both in terms of distance and speed.
