Dyno runs might seem like the least dangerous thing you can do to a car when you’re in the mood for hooning, but believing that is a huge mistake. We’ve brought you an example that demonstrates 150 MPH is still 150 MPH, even when such speeds are achieved on a rolling road.
It’s all shown in the video below, which brings us a previous-generation Mustang GT with a shot of nitrous doing a dyno run. The guy behind the wheel is said to have been aiming for a top speed run instead of the usual muscle-measuring shenanigan.

Regardless of his reasons, the man goes through all the gears and keeps the pedal to the floor for quite a while. After plenty of rolling road speeding, the left rear tire decides to quit, blowing out in a spectacular fashion.

While the exact speed recorded by the car when the tire exploded isn’t mentioned, the driver said he was in 5th gear at the top, so it’s safe to assume the speedometer was showing 150 MPH (that’s 240 km/h for all you reading this across the pond).

The serious speed meant the tire acted a bit like a machine gun, taking out the rear apron, as well as seriously damaging other components on its way to rubber heaven.

For instance, the fuel filler line was affected, while the damaged metal in the wheel arch gives us a good clue about the destructive power of the tire.

Such dyno runs that do not provide cooling are a mistake to begin with, especially when we’re dealing with prolonged hooning episodes such as this one.

Other factors that might have led to this include the tire’s speed rating, as well as previous high-rpm moments that might have taken place on the same day. You know, unorthodox episodes such as burnouts or other extended dyno runs.
