If you're a fan of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, then heed our words and watch the 'Fire Breathing Monsters' documentary as soon as possible. It's aggressive, deafening and full of passionate racers, but somehow manages to capture the intimacy surrounding this sport in 7 minutes jam-packed of action.
Let's be frank for a moment: IndyCar and NASCAR are definitive American creations just like apple pie, the burger and jumbo-sized fizzy drinks. Hopefully fans of the motorsports won't diss us too hard what we're about to say, IndyCar and NASCAR race cars practically stand still compared to speeds achieved by NHRA dragsters.

Top Fuel and Funny Car drivers routinely run the typical 1,000-foot (305-meter) dragstrip in under 4 seconds at over 320 mph (515 km/h). Whichever way you look at it, NHRA drag racing is one of the fastest motorsports out there. Even though it's been a pretty popular theme for filmmakers since the 1950s, few drag racing documentaries manage to offer the viewer intense emotion about the sport and a nice, warm feeling inside after watching it.

Spotlighting the unique American interpretation for speed, 'Fire Breathing Monsters' is certain to grab on tight to enthusiasts' hearts and minds by transmitting the visceral part of NHRA drag racing so hard to capture on film. Thanks to amazing ultra-HD 4K quality, you might actually feel the smell and thundering noise of a 10,000 horsepower Nitro racer going full bore.

The nitromethane charged short documentary is directed by Brent Thomas, a long-time fan of the sport. According to him, his assignment was "to point the cameras at anything that looked interesting and helped explain the attraction of this remarkable motorsport. A critical part of this was hours of interviews with drivers and their crews.  By the end, we shot 24 hours of content – the digital equivalent to 140,000 feet of film.”
