Musk’s Near-Fatal Crash Means No Tesla Road Bikes, ATV and Dirt Bike Confirmed

Gone are the days when Tesla’s top man, Elon Musk, was envisioning a limited car lineup that could spell out the word SEXY. Given the incredible success of the electric cars it sells, Tesla has expanded the scope of its business so far and wide that it seems it will soon turn into a full-blown corporation.

Following the announcement of the Semi a few years back, the second departure from the original business model was announced last month: the Cybertruck. As if the pickup had been a floodgate waiting to burst, Cybertruck is now quickly followed by more extreme machines.

At the official presentation of the truck, Musk introduced to the stage, to wide acclaim, an ATV. One he said nothing about, really, apart from the fact it is meant to be an accessory for the Cybertruck.

In a series of tweets over the weekend, Elon Musk confirmed the ATV would be built, it will be called the Cyberquad, and should be recharging itself on the bed of the truck as soon as 2021.

“We’ll aim to have it come out same time as truck. Two seater electric ATV designed to work with Cybertruck will be fun!” he said.

Musk’s confirmation came as a reply to a post by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley, and as the discussion dragged on, some more exciting details were revealed, like the fact the idea of making an electric dirt bike “would be cool too.”

If some of you were hoping for an electric Tesla road motorcycle in the near future, you can kiss that dream goodbye. Musk says road motorcycles are too dangerous, and because he nearly died in a crash when he was 17, he will never make one.

“We won’t do road bikes, as too dangerous. I was hit by a truck & almost died on one when I was 17.”

This is not a new decision, as Musk said about the same thing in the summer of 2018, claiming to have been scared into never riding a road motorcycle again since the incident.
