The Ford Mustang has been struggling behind Chevy’s Camaro for quite a while, but May 2013 sales figures have put the Blue Oval-wearing pony in front of its GM rival.
According to Ford, 8,797 Mustangs have been delivered last month, and while sales are down 15.6 percent when compared to May 2012, the number is higher by more than 1,000 units than the one reported in April 2013.

As for the Chevrolet Camaro, the General Motors-developed musclecar made 7,929 drivers happy, which translates into a 12.1 percent drop off over May 2012. The third musclecar market contender, the Dodge Challenger, was sold in 5,537 examples, an increase of 15 percent over the same period last year.

Moving on to year-to-date figures, the Chevrolet Camaro is still the best-selling musclecar in 2013 with 35,076 units delivered. The Mustang is close with 33,868 examples, while the Dodge Challenger has a lot of catching up to do, having sold 24,881 units this year.
