Murphy Oil to Fit Charging Stations

Perhaps among the first gasoline stations owners to embrace the new way of motoring which lurks around the corner, Murphy Oil USA announced today it will begin a pilot test program at one of the 1,000 stations which it operates in 22 states.

Together with the Eaton Corporation, Murphy Oil will kick off the pilot program at a location in Tennessee. The goal of the test is to see how the consumers will react to seeing a charging point in a gas station and to identify all the aspects of operating such a unit.

“Murphy Oil USA is committed to being a pioneer and early adopter of alternative fuels and Green Energy. Through our collaboration with Eaton, we are paving the way for development of the infrastructure leading to adoption and expanded of use of Electric Vehicles,” said Hank Heithaus, Murphy Oil USA Retail Marketing president.

Once the first phase of the project will be addressed, Murphy Oil will begin installing Eaton DC Quick Chargers at more of its locations. More details on the project are expected to be unveiled as the first test progresses.

“Eaton is focused on creating innovative and affordable technologies that help customers reduce their impact on the environment,” added Richard Stinson, Eaton Power Distribution Operations president.

“Eaton offers a complete line of electric vehicle chargers for residential and industrial application and has a presence in communities across North America. We are excited about collaborating with Murphy Oil USA to deliver this clean technology within an environment that the consumers are very comfortable with.”
