German tuner MTM is preparing some pretty extreme developments for next week’s Geneva Motor Show and we’re here to talk about our favorite one. MTM has played with the T5 van, creating the T 500 2.5 TFSI 4motion. Well, the name kind of says it all: yes it does come with almost 500 hp and if the 2.5 TFSI designation sounds strange it’s because such an engine doesn’t exist - it was basically created by MTM!
VW’s 2.5-liter inline-five unit has been heavily modified and now produces 472 hp at 6,900 rpm and a peak torque of 625 Nm (461 lb-ft) at 4,100 rpm, with the transmission also being tweaked. With the help of its four-wheel drive system, the passenger van can now play with its driver up to 280 km/h (174 mph).
To handle the extra power, the van was fitted with a modified suspension, a set of 20-inch Bimoto rims that use 275/35 rims with Michelin SuperSport tires, as well as beefier brakes.
The MTM T 500 2.5 TFSI 4motion comes with just one drawback: a price of EUR160,000 (USD215,000 at the current exchange rates). However, considering how much fun we’ve had test driving the 140 hp diesel stock version of the T5, we could just imagine what this one is capable of.
PS: the German flag wrap is optional, soyou can have one of the best sleeper machines if you order it in a "normal" color.
