Hearing that Volkswagen Amarok fans fans want a lot more power than the 2-liter TDI engines can offer, German tuner MTM has just stuffed a big V8 under the bonnet of the pickup for maximum impact.
Headed to the Geneva Motor show, MTM's sports truck is fitted with the same 4.2-liter V8 TDI motor you get in the Tuareg. However, it's also been tuned, so instead of making 340 hp and 800 Nm of torque, it produces a meaty 410 PS and 930 Nm of torque.

As you'd expect from a vehicle with so much power, heavy as it is, the MTM Pickup shifts. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) it's claimed to be faster than a Golf GTI hot hatch, taking just 6 seconds to reach the magical triple-digit number, on its way to a top speed of 222 km/h (138 mph).

To be able to cope with such high speed, MTM has had to strip out the old leaf suspension and replace it with their own system, combining air springs and Panhard rods. Larger wheels and tires were also fitted to make use of the added grunt. The wheels measure 22-inches and have been covered in Michelin Latitude 295/40 R22 tires. MTM brake (405 x 36 mm) provides the extra stopping power needed to drag speed off a two ton truck capable of going over 200 km/h.

Look for the MTM Amarok to be fully detailed at the Geneva Motor Show.
