MTM's Audi A1 Hits 201 MPH at Nardo Highspeed Test

After ABT and Senner Tuning wrapped their hands around the recently launched Audi A1, German tuner, MTM, decided to have a go with it as well. That was almost a year ago, and the changes only covered the cosmetic parts at the time, but the tuner has also gotten round to playing with the engine, with mightily impressive results.

You probably think we’re going to bring you a 220 horsepower kit, maybe a 250 hp one, right? You’re definitely not ready for this one, so we’ll give it to you straight: the car that’s the size of a mouse now has 500 horsepower at its disposal. A six-speed transmission and limited slip differential ensure it will spring to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. But that’s not the most impressive thing it can do!

Every year, modified supercars head on over to the Nardo test track to see what they are capable of. Cars like the 9FF Porsche 911 GT3, MKB McLaren SLR, G-Power BMW M3, and SpeedArt Porsche Cayenne Turbo arrived on the scene to strut their stuff, but the mighty A1 stole the show by reaching an impressive 201 miles per hour. That’s 323.5 kilometers per hour, or the equivalent of covering 90 meters every second.

Helping the little A1 on its way to this kind of speed were MTM’s other mods, which covered a new set of 18" MTM bimoto rims with a 9-spoke race design, a new set of MTM-Spacers (20 mm per axle), upgraded brakes, and a lowered suspension. What a little speed monster!
