The German tuners from Motoren Technik Mayer (MTM) like to take their time with a car, but the end result is always bewildering and mighty. You’d be forgiven for thinking this is just another MTM tuning job that you’ve already seen, but it’s a brand new program for the RS3 Sportback.
We’ll skip past the black and orange cosmetics and straight into the engine bay. MTM has a lot of experience with the unit, since they’ve tuned the TT-RS but they’ve gone one over this time.

There are three stages of tune available for the car, but the most impressive packs 462 horsepower. The first package takes the 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five generating 340 hp and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque, to an output of 410 hp and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft), using nothing but ECU fettling.

The second stage kit takes things a bit further with new downpipes, an intercooler and exhaust system that take output to 424 hp and 560Nm (413 lb-ft) torque, which is enough to scare the R8.

A new turbocharger is what’s needed to take things all the way to 472 hp and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft).

MTM says that going all the way will cost you €10,600, but you won’t find another hatchback with almost 500 hp for that kind of money. Expect the tuners to release some impressive performance figures soon. Some better brakes and a few racy interiour touches have also been introduced.
