Well, it seems plenty of people are willing to extract even more power out of the hot hatch's upgraded Mustang EcoBoost engine. And, as we've discussed on previous occasions, tuners are more than glad to help.

We're here to show you how a such a custom Focus RS feels, with Matt Farah's example having recently gained what is probably the maximum level of aftermarket goodies currently available for the Mk III Focus RS.

To be more precise, the manic compact was gifted with Mountune's stage III upgrades, which cover the intake, intercooler, an ECU remap, as well as short shift kit. As The Smoking Tire man explains in the piece of footage below, the tuner delivered these goodies, which are worth $1,200, for free, with the obvious promotional purpose.

Then there's the Magnaflow exhaust (also installed at no cost), which, according to the aftermarket specialist, is just 4-5 decibels louder than the standard one.

On the dyno, the peak gains 26 wheel horsepower and 91 wheel tq, but, as Matt points out in the clip, it's the mid-range gains that matter more.

Matt takes the Focus RS for a canyon carving session, with YouTube SeenThroughGlass riding shotgun and probably sweating a little. And you can check out the adventure in the piece of footage below. In a bit of a spoiler alert, we have to drop a warning - brace yourselves for an opinion-splitting shifter knob.

P.S.: So far, no tuner, whether based in the U.S. or Europe, has managed to hit the 400 hp mark (SEMA is fixing that, though). As Matt explains, the limited size of the 2.3-liter four-cylinder's turbine is the one limiting the top end gains. But we'll probably see things skyrocketing next year (remember Hennessey's 500 hp promise?).
