Motorcyclist Gets in a Row with Officer after Honking for Holding Up Traffic

As the name suggests, motorcyclists are nothing but cyclists with a motor. That means that despite their helmets and full body suits (those who wear them), their level of protection on the road is still close to zero.

The fact that, thanks to their motors, they can reach very high speeds only means more chances for them to get into trouble. This vulnerability usually splits motorcyclists into two very distinct categories. On the one hand, there are those who take little to no risks, always pay attention to the traffic around them and try to make themselves as visible as possible. On the other, there are those who employ the principle "you only need to worry about what's behind you if they're faster than you" and step on it. I mean, you know, they twist it.

Since he has provided us with the whole ten minutes of his ride that day, we can say that our guy, YouTube user Swarook, falls into the former category. You don't see him speeding, he (almost) stops at the stop sign and, generally speaking, he acts like a person who's just enjoying a ride on his motorcycle. Which, according to him, is exactly what he was doing. I mean, the man even sings along to his tunes, for Christ's sake.

At one point (around 3:15), he comes across a white Ford SUV that's stopped at a roundabout. Swarook stops behind him, but when he notices that the driver is on the phone and doesn't move even though there was no traffic coming, he gives him a short sound of the horn. With that failing to do anything, three seconds later he resorts to a long beep to make his point, while also gesturing to the driver to put down his phone.

Turns out the Ford is an unmarked police car, and there's an on-duty officer in it that wastes no time coming out of the vehicle. Now don't get me wrong, I too hate people who are too eager to use their horns, and maybe Swarook did exaggerate a little with the second one, but that doesn't change the fact that the officer was effectively holding up the line, official police business or not.

The officer informs him that "beeping a horn at a vehicle is road rage," to which the motorcyclist has a great reply: "I wasn't angry at all." All in all, they have a seven-minute talk that involves ticket threats and court subpoenas, but probably realizing they were both right and wrong at the same time, it all ends without any repercussions. It's worth watching the whole video, if not for its entertaining value than at least for learning how to deal with an irritated police officer and still get away with it.
