Motorcycle Safety Fail at Its Finest Level

Epic safety fail at all levels 1 photo

When I saw this photo, the first thing that caught my attention was the fact that the rider was wearing crocs. Of course, ATGATT fans would whine and becry this, but I have to admit it: when riding into the city in very hot weather, wearing riding boots is probably the last thing that comes to mind.
Yes, not wearing riding gear exposes the feet to injuries in case of a crash, it's true. But at the same time, this doesn't necessarily mean that a guy wearing shorts and sneakers WILL crash, does it? In case he or she does, second thoughts will definitely bring riding gear to mind, but assuming from the start that one will crash is simply stupid.

The problem with flip-flops, crocs and similar shoes is not the lack of protection but the lack of any decent means to make sure they stay on a person's feet.

There are a zillion scenarios whose outcome is flying shoes and a rider might tend to be very careless when slowing down, stopping or making a u-turn to recover his or her shoes. And then is when disaster stikes...

Carrying small children on a scooter is both illegal and irresponsible

Having children as a third passenger on a two-up scooter is both dangerous and illegal, regardless of their age. And the fact that this one looks like 3 years old or so only makes this worse.

The parents' sheer lack of responsibility for taking the little guy aboard is only surpassed by making the little one wearing a bicycle helmet. "Just like mom and dad," right?

Well, the father gets bonus points for wearing that flimsy bicycle helmet unstrapped, making it just about as useful as a fedora in case of a crash. At least the lady has strapped her bicycle helmet, even though it doesn't help too much in case things go wrong.

What can I say, this is so wrong on so many levels, and I can only hope that they safely made it home. If you recognize these fellows or the scooter, please show them this article and beg them to be more considerate with both their own lives and that of their child's.
