Once a racer, always a racer, they say, and seeing MotoGP legend Mick Doohan conforming his entry in the 2013 Race of Champions proves the saying only too well.
The 2013 Race of Champions will take place in Bangkok, Thailand at the Rajamangala Stadium, on 14-15 December and Doohan will be up against the like of legendary F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, Le Mans 24 Hour legend Tom Kristensen, World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier and more like them.
Doohan will team up with his buddy and neighbor Jamie Whincup, a V8 Supercar Champion himself, and despite his self-declared lack of expertise in buggy racing, the Aussie says that he's not willing to give up without a strong fight: "of course it’s tough for a bike racer to come up against so many great drivers, but I’ll be determined not to let the side down," he told motogp.com.
A MotoGP Legend, Doohan is a 5-time World Champion, and claimed 54 GP victories, 95 podiums, 58 poles and 46 race fastest laps across his lengthy, amazing career.
