MotoGP Cancels Valencia Press Conference, Lorenzo's Request for Intervention Rejected

There will be no pre-event press conference at Valencia this Thursday, as the riders and team managers have been summoned by the Permanent Bureau. The discussions will address the recent events in the championship, most likely accompanied by a request for fair play in the final round of this thrilling, and almost mad, season.

The last press conference sprouted controversy after Valentino Rossi declared that Marc Marquez looked like one of the newest fans of Jorge Lorenzo. The declaration was openly aimed at Marquez' recent racing style when it came to dealing with Rossi on the track.

Sadly for the sport, the race at Sepang saw MM93 and VR46 clashing on the track, with the former crashing out of the race and the latter being handed three penalty points. With a total of four such points, Rossi will have to start the race at Valencia from the last position on the grid.

It's obvious that the organizers of the MotoGP are looking to keep the spirits as calm as possible, preventing more verbal scuffles between the top three riders and possibly more that could take sides.

Lorenzo's request for intervention in Rossi's appeal to the Court for Arbitration in Sport was denied

Valentino Rossi appealed to the Court for Arbitration in Sport (CAS) seeking an annulment of the penalty handed by the Race Direction, or at least to have it reduced to only one point.

Jorge Lorenzo's lawyers filed a request with the CAS to have the Spanish rider allowed to participate in the arbitration process. The Swiss body rejected the appeal, stating that the appeal will continue between Rossi and the FIM only.

A ruling from the Court for Arbitration in Sport is expected by Friday, November 6. Following the CAS ruling, Rossi will know if his lap times in the Free Practice sessions will count towards the Qualifying ones.
