It appears that the mysterious affairs of Dorna shares that were sold to other companies owned by the same guys is far from being over. Italian sources mention that Repubblica, one of the country's biggest newspapers, reports about the imminent arrest of Carmelo Ezpeleta, the MotoGP boss.
The Italian newspaper adds that the Spanish Manos Limpias (Clean Hands) syndicate is reportedly asking that Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta be detained. This is a new escalation in the case we brought to your attention in early March.

Back then, Dorna and two of its executives, Carmelo Ezpeleta and Enrique Aldama, were found guilty after being charged with tax evasion and had to pay a hefty amount of money in fines.

The two were found guilty of simulating a sale of Dorna shares to reduce the base of tax calculus. The problem was that the company to which these shares were sold was also controlled by the two, so basically the money never moved. The defendants pleaded for leveraged recapitalization but their claim was not taken into account, so they were fined.

Now, it looks like things are going awry even more, a further backlash of the denouncing Carlo Bottero, CEO of company SEL, made last autumn. SEL is a logistics company that worked with Dorna for around 18 years, and its owner denounced the suspicious practices and dominant position abuse the Spanish firm used. More (in Italian here).

An investigation was started and led to the fines we mentioned. Now, Manos Limpias demands that Ezpeleta is placed in provisional detention, lest he would flee abroad.

Now, things are strange, because Ezpeleta is actually supposed to travel abroad, and quite soon, because the upcoming MotoGP round starts in Argentina. We've also got news about the recent developments from more Italian sources (Corsedimoto and Calcioweb), but we'll be back with more info soon.
