Dorna and the FIM reveal the final version of the 2016 MotoGP calendar, which does not differ from the previous provisional one that was announced at the end of the 2015 season, ahead of the race at Valencia.
The 2016 season comprises 18 rounds, with the kick-off on March 20 race also being the only evening race, at the Losail Circuit in Qatar, as it has been for quite some time now. In case you're not too well familiarized with the whole evening race thing, we'll add that the location and weather conditions are the ones that made the FIM stage a nighttime race.

The Losail Circuit near the Qatar capital Doha is located in the desert, and during the day, the track temperatures have a negative impact on performance. The daytime temperatures would also wreck the spectators' experience. Apparently, the winds bring more sand on the track during the day than in the evening, so the choice sounds natural.

With the Indianapolis race dropped, the 2016 MotoGP calendar is complete with the return of the GP of Austria. The race will be held at the Red Bull Ring, formerly known as the A-ring, in Spielberg, on August 14. We also remind you that KTM, who have great relationships with Red Bull, will introduce their RC16 MotoGP machine that weekend.

The final race of 2016 will be at Valencia, also as accustomed for years. The season will end on November 13, and you can check out the picture after the jump for all the race dates.

Aprilia finalized their all-new RS-GP prototype and are debuting it at MotorLand Aragon

MotorLand Aragon was chosen as the place where Aprilia will debut their all-new MotoGP RS-GP prototype. We reported that Aprilia's new race machine was not ready by the time when the first IRTA test of the year was scheduled. At Sepang, Aprilia brought the old, 2015 model, and it was no surprise to see those machines' performance putting them low on the time sheets.

However, it looks like a new dawn for the house of Noale and Romano Albesiano, the head of the racing department. The new RS-GP is said to be a completely new machine, no longer derived from the RSV-4 that Aprilia uses in World Superbike.

The RS-GP lettering now stands for a motorcycle that is engineered especially for MotoGP. It may take a while until Aprilia refines it and begins their attack on the rest of the manufacturers, but this initial step is a crucial one. Aprilia will not make the travel to the Phillip Island IRTA test and will take on to the Losail circuit in Qatar instead, ahead of the final official pre-season outing.

At MotorLand, Aprilia will have their test rider Mike Di Meglio astride the new RS-GP, while the two factory riders Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl will get to meet the bike in the flesh at the IRTA test.

Aprilia's MotoGP liter-class adventure started back in 2002, with the 998cc three-cylinder RS Cube machine that had a pneumatic valvetrain and ride-by-wire, a premiere in the sport.
