We got wind of Moto Guzzi working hard on a completely new engine which should mean the beginning of a completely new era in the brand's history.
As far as rumors go at the time of writing, the new power unit could be in the 1300cc segment and capable of delivering around 140 HP. This 90-degree v-twin will also be a compact unit, with an attached gearbox which would rotate in the opposite direction of the crankshaft: and this means less torque reaction and a bike which is more pleasant to rev up without having to compensate that much.
Allegedly, the new Moto Guzzi engine will also ditch both air cooling in favor of the liquid-cooled design (just like the new R1200GS). A 4-valve per cylinder DOHC architecture is expected, too. Noticeably more powerful than any other current Guzzi engine, the new unit is expected by 2015. Via Cycle World.
