Bisimoto Engineering, a company from Canada that has completed over 1,000 tuning projects, is working on four cars for the 2017 SEMA Show.
The most uncommon of them will be a Porsche 911, which will have a V6 engine. If this did not rattle your inner Porsche fan, sit down to read what kind of V6 engine will be installed. Ready? Bisimoto will fit a Hyundai V6 engine in a 911, instead of the flat-six unit made by the German company.
For the moment, all we have is a picture posted on Instagram, which shows an engine and the rear end of a Porsche 911 after it has been dismantled. As Autoblog notes, the guys at Bisimoto were kind enough to tag Hyundai USA in the picture, and we have a screen grab to prove it - you can see it in the photo gallery.
While the type of Hyundai V6 engine was not announced officially, it appears that the unit that will be used is a Lambda-series power plant. We expect the specialists at Bisimoto to tune the engine accordingly so that they will justify its presence under the hood of a Porsche 911.
For some, this might not be the most insane engine swap in the world, as people have placed a Ferrari V8 or a Nissan GT-R engine in a Toyota GT86, or a Lamborghini V12 in the back of a classic Fiat 500, just to mention a few eccentric builds.
While cars like a classic Volkswagen Beetle with a radial engine, a smart fortwo with a Suzuki Hayabusa powertrain, or many other freakish builds seem to make sense in the end, stuffing a Hyundai engine in a Porsche just seems wrong to us.
However, we will give the Canadians at Bisimoto a chance to prove themselves. Instead of being excessively polite, we hope that Bisimoto’s engineers will tune the Hyundai V6 like there’s no tomorrow, and show everyone that they wanted to do more than just a proof of concept.
