Mosley: "Teams Are Being Unreasonable"

FIA president Max Mosley finally gave us a glimpse of what the ruling body thinks of the new Formula One Teams Association demands on the 2010 regulations. As most of us were expecting, the 69-year old Englishman does not approve at all with the FOTA requirements, while also pointing out that FIA will remain the only body with the power to set rules inside the sport.

While making that clear enough for everyone, he also criticized the way in which the majority of Formula One teams behaved during the subscription period for the 2010 entry list. Nine of the ten existing teams – Williams was the only exception – lodged their F1 entries only hours before the deadline expired on May 29th, which created a state of uncertainty within the F1 wannabes.

We make the rules. We have done it for 60 years and we are going to continue to do it,” said Mosley in an interview for Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell.

Not only that the Formula One teams held their meeting on cutting costs in Formula One – ironically enough, Mosley pointed out – on Flavio Briatore's superyacht, but their proposals are regarded as being simply “unrealistic” by the FIA president.

Also, their revisions of the Concorde Agreement were finalized too late in order for the Formula One Management (controlled by Bernie Ecclestone) and the FIA to both go over it and sign it by June 12th.

From the looks of it, it seems highly unlikely that the two bodies will reach an agreement over the cost cutting measures, new Concorde Agreement and budget capping too soon. With the teams announcing they won't compete next season unless their demands will be satisfied, we're probably looking at some more weeks (if not months) of continuous dispute between those “sporting” bodies.
