Mosley: Replacing Me Will Not Be Easy!

Max Mosley is yet to decide whether he will step down as president of the FIA in October 2009 or remain head of the international federation for another mandate. The Englishman admitted he hasn't gave much thought about renouncing his position until now but he will make a decision in the near future.

Mosley's current mandate ends in October 2009 and the 68-year old Englishman insisted he is more inclined to step down from the presidential chair rather than do the politics for another 4 years. However, he warned the potential candidates that wearing the same shoes as he did for the past 15 years will not be an easy task.

“I will take a final decision in June,” revealed Mosley for Formula1.com, while putting on the table the qualities of his potential successor in the FIA presidential chair.

“A great deal of patience and ideally an ability to understand quickly a great variety of technical and legal issues. I would advise a potential successor to think very carefully before standing for election. The difficulty is finding somebody who has the necessary experience, but also the time and inclination to do the job,” added Mosley.

Mosley first announced he is considering stepping down as FIA president following the sex scandal in which he was involved this summer. However, the Englishman received a boost of confidence from the international body, keeping his job following a 108-55 vote of confident by the FIA members.

Out of the potential candidates for the job, the international media have insisted on FIA's new deputy president Nick Craw, Renault boss Flavio Briatore, Ferrari's CEO Luca di Montezemolo or even former Toro Rosso co-owner and F1 driver Gerhard Berger.
