Back in March, autoevolution published a story about how Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act could spell the return of the Morgan Motor Company in the United States. Now we have confirmation on the matter from the Morgan importer in the U.S.
According to Isis Imports Ltd., the importer now accepts pre-orders for “new [4-wheeled] Morgan cars.” Oh, happy times! The first units are bound to set foot on American soil by the first quarter of 2017. The big question is, what sort of Morgan nameplates will Isis Imports be selling here?

Steve Morris, the head honcho of the Morgan Motor Company, mumbled something about “some of the heritage models.” Such an observation doesn’t hit the nail on the head, to be honest. Isis Imports suggests that some of the finer details regarding legal imports of Morgan vehicles to the U. S. of A. remain to be finalized.

All we know at the moment is that the order books open this summer and that “it is possible that production may begin on U.S.A. spec cars before the end of the year.” Isis Imports also suggests that the first model to be imported is the V6-powered Roadster.

As the name implies, this Morgan is animated by a Ford-developed V6 engine that displaces 3.7 liters and produces 280 horsepower and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. Frankly, that’s a lot for a car as light as the Morgan Roadster, which is why 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) is doable in 5.3 seconds. Top speed stands at a relatively conservative 140 miles per hour (225 km/h).

We shouldn’t point the finger at the Morgan V6 Roadster, though. After all, this car comes from an entirely different era. If, however, you’re a 21st-century boy like Marc Bolan of T-Rex, then you might be interested in the Morgan EV3, the first EV to be developed by the British outfit.

Morgan tells that production will start in Q4 of 2016, with pricing and performance figures to be comparable with those of the gasoline-fed 3 Wheeler. Thanks to a range of 150 miles (241 kilometers), this is a proper electric vehicle by all standards other than the fact that it has three wheels. Isis Imports Ltd. is now taking orders for the Morgan EV3, albeit pricing hasn’t been made available at the time of writing.

Editor’s note: Before Isis became the acronym for a terrorist organization, the importer took the name in 1968. If we rewind further back in time, Isis was penned in Ancient Egypt as the name of a goddess.
