The car, which will hit the streets at an yet unspecified date, will be called LIFEcar 2 and will look pretty much as the concept shown in Geneva. This is because of Morgan's design philosophy, which is to take concepts and turn them into production versions pretty much unchanged, as the company's chief designer, Matt Humphries, says.
The LIFEcar 2 will join the yet rare segment of diesel-hybrids (at least this is the rumor, as a diesel option was not confirmed yet by Morgan). Most of the details of the hybrid powertrain are almost missing, but Morgan decided to give us a glimpse of what the LIFEcar 2 will be about.
Priced at around $61,800 (EUR48,700), the model will offer a huge 1,000-mile range (1,610 km), only 15 of which being all electric (24 km). The powertrain of the vehicle will offer a naught to sixty acceleration time of under seven seconds.
“The drivetrain will power a vehicle that epitomises Morgan core value of innovation. The use of sustainable lightweight materials will ensure that not only is the vehicle fuel efficient with a low carbon output, but that at the end of its very long life, it will be easily recyclable,” the British builder says in a release.
