Morgan Is Favourite British-Owned Car Maker

The Morgan Motor Company is Britain’s favorite British-owned car make, according to MSN Cars. The company was best liked by an impressive 31 percent of the total 18,000 people polled, placing it well ahead of the 19 percent scored by runner-up Noble. Joint third place, with 13 percent, went to another retro carmaker Caterham and to a venerable maker of rare supercars, Bristol Cars.

”This is brilliant news and Morgan is very proud to be voted best British-owned sports car maker. Come and see us in Malvern, Worcestershire, making the cars. It’s a great day out,” Charles Morgan, managing director of Morgan, said after he heard the results of the poll.

The exotic car manufacturer has proved tougher than a lot of other British makes that have closed their business or were forced into foreign ownership. The models they produce hark back to an earlier age of motoring, something that seems to appeal to a lot of buyers, underlined by the marque’s long waiting lists and robust values on the used car market.

“I’m very pleased to see Morgan do so well in our poll,” says Tom Evans, content manager of MSN Cars.  “The firm makes some wonderful cars with incredible attention to detail and quality, and I’m not surprised that the firm is so well regarded by the British public. Britain remains one of Europe’s largest car-making nations, but many of its larger car-producers are foreign-owned.  This is not the case with some of our smaller manufacturers, many of which are jewels of the industry,” he also added.
