You know Morgan. Yes, that car manufacturer from the UK with a passion for building cars with parts out of wood. Well, the British outfit is now celebrating the start of production for the EV3.
Presented in 2015 as a prototype, the 2016 Morgan EV3 stepped into the limelight earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. For the first batch of EV3s, the Morgan Motor Company has teamed up with Selfridges.

Readers outside the UK, bear with me. Selfridges is a chain of stores. What's impressive about that, you may be wondering? Well, the Selfridges store on Oxford Street is the second largest shop in the UK after Harrods.

According to a joint press release from the two British companies, 19 units of the exquisite electric vehicle based on the Morgan 3-Wheeler “will be available to order, with each car numbered 01-19.” As if that wasn't exclusive enough for most people, each Morgan EV3 UK 1909 Selfridges Edition will be “accented with unique features such as a miniature bronze plaque, bronze grills and the best of British materials used in the interiors and hardware.”

I know what question is on your mind right now. Why did they call it the Morgan EV3 UK 1909 Selfridges Edition? The answer is as follows: UK celebrates the British heritage of both companies, 1909 is the year Morgan Motor Company and Selfridge & Co. were founded, and that’s about it. Moving on to more pressing matters, just look at this thing! Neat, isn’t it?

The peeps at Morgan haven’t announced the technical details of the EV3 UK 1909 Selfridges Edition, yet the specs should mirror those of the EV3. Look forward to a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, 150 miles (241 km) of range, 61 HP (62 PS) driving the rear wheel, 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 9 seconds, and more than 90 mph (145 km/h) in terms of maximum speed.

Oh, and another thing. “A powered junior version of the UK 1909 edition will also be available from Selfridges.” As per the British sports car company, more information about the Morgan EV3 Junior will be released soon enough.

UPDATE: The Selfridges Edition is £52,500 and it includes "a bespoke driving kit from British design talents such as Alexander McQueen, Dents, and Belstaff."
