Suter officially pulled the wraps off their all-new MMX500 race bike at the Dübendorf military airport near Zurich, in their native Switzerland. However, it was not the rather uncanny scenery that made this event so important, but the guest list that had quite a lot of big names in motorcycle racing history.
The Suter MMX500 was launched in the presence of multiple riders that have written the history books of two-stroke motorcycle racing, among who we only mention Luigi Taveri, Wayne Gardner, Freddie Spencer, Phil Read, Luca Cadalora, Christian Sarron, Jacques Cornu, Philippe Coulon, Didier de Radiguès, or Bruno Kneubühler.
The Swiss maker still has a lot of technical data, facts and figures to reveal, and promised this will happen in the near future. Some of the riders even took the MMX500 for a spin on the airport tarmac.
Gardner says that his series should have twenty riders astride Suter MMX500 bikes financed by rich motorcycle enthusiasts, racing on three European circuits. Those financing the "teams" will also receive trophies, not unlike it is the case with MotoGP teams nowadays.
Suter already proposed several retro liveries for the MMX500 machines, with Rothmans-Honda, Marlboro-Yamaha, Gauloises-Yamaha, Pepsi-Suzuki and Lucky Strike-Suzuki.
The mini-series imagined by Wayne Gardner is also an attempt at making owning a retro GP bike easier, by growing a stronger community and having collectors, riders and enthusiast interacting better.

Suter MMX500 will be used in the GP Bike Legends mini championship
The bike will show up next year in the GP Bike Legends mini-championship. This fun-driven mini-series is comprised of three races in Europe.
