We've just received a new batch of photos featuring the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and it's official ('cause we say so): the future E-Class will fit nicely between its two siblings.
Contrary to the current generation that was very different from both its contemporary C-Class and S-Class models, the new executive saloon from Mercedes-Benz doesn't seem keen on rocking the boat in the slightest manner possible.

That's both good and bad news, as it will undoubtedly look stunning, but it will also make it even harder to distinguish between the brand's models on the street from a certain distance. Which, we're perfectly aware, isn't really at the top of the list of things car makers take into account when developing a new vehicle.

This time, the car comes with less camouflage than usual, allowing us to see just how well it resembles the rest of the lineup. You'd think this was OK because Mercedes-Benz would make the distinction based on the level of technology available in each model, but that doesn't stand either.

The new E-Class will be a technological power-house, mirroring almost all features found on the S-Class. No, what I think will happen is the level of comfort offered will become the main differentiator. The S-Class will remain the King, which makes the E-Class the Duke, and the smaller C-Class... I don't know, the artist formerly known as Prince, I guess.

But even here there's a catch. Some spyshots have caught a long wheelbase version of the future E-Class testing, generating rumors about a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class which, in all honesty, would be pretty hard to explain - it will basically be a smaller regular S-Class with more luxurious features and probably also more expensive. I swear, this is getting way too complicated.

Anyway, let's take comfort in the fact there's not much time left until the official reveal in 2016, when everything will become clear. Until then, have a look at what must be the most revealing images of the new E-Class so far.
