Conventional logic dictates that nothing short and tall should ever try and be sporty. But following that logic, we’d all be driving sportscars instead of ever getting to enjoy the magic of a focused SUV.
Nissan is among the few companies out there right now that is trying to make really small but fast crossovers. Their Juke was available from launch with a 1.6-liter turbo that had people scratching their heads.
It seemed that there wasn’t a market for that type of vehicle, but in fact there is. Now the Japanese carmakers is following that up with a hot Nismo version of the Juke, already on sale in Europe and Japan. It has 200 horsepower, a hot body kit and sports suspension, but Nismo isn’t stopping there.
A prototype for an even more hardcore Juke Nismo RC has been tested by Sport Auto in Spain. It supposedly offers 221 hp, 21 more than the Juke Nismo, plus a much more focused suspension setup.
The model is expected to be sold either with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission or all-wheel drive with a continuously variable transmission.
