As we reported days ago, the NHTSA was working on the exact details for the latest BMW motorcycle recall, campaign number 13V549000.
The current number of affected vehicles is 2,608, and they belong to the 2007-2009 model years F800S and F800ST series. The bikes have been manufactured August 2006 though January 2009, so if you're the owner of such a machine, a trip to your nearest BMW dealer might be a good idea.

Customers can also call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or reach the company by email at [email protected] in case they're not sure whether their bike needs the rear wheel bearing replaced.

We stated earlier that these bikes have been delivered with an incorrectly manufactured rear wheel bearing which had the wrong tolerance and could start to play, leading to premature bearing and rear axle wear.

The NHTSA mentions that the recall will be started this December.
