We know what you’re thinking: Mopar + new V10 engine = all-new Dodge Viper. Well, this isn’t the case. At least not yet. For now, Chrysler’s parts division is using the SEMA event to unveil not a 8.7-liter V8, as the next Viper will get, but an 8.4-liter V10 crate engine.
Don’t call this one baby, Part Number P5144872 would be more appropriate. The powerplant, which comes with a displacement of 512 cubic inches (8.4-liters) delivers 800 hp and 695 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to that, we also get a Gen III HEMI V8 engine that delivers 590 hp, a bolt-on upgrade kit for the third gen. Dodge Viper that ads 150 hp, a Challenger body-in-white for motorsport teams, as well as other less complex custom engine goodies.
