Another strong contender to the title of Mother of the Year comes from Dixon, California. A 49-year-old woman strapped an inflatable pool on the roof of her car and had her kids jump in for a ride.
The woman has been identified as Jennifer Janus Yeager, and was traveling with her 2 minor daughters in the family’s white Audi Q5. Dixon Police responded to a call of reckless driving, after fellow motorists noticed the Audi topped with an inflatable pool with kids inside, Sauk Valley reports.

As if getting the kids inside an inflatable anything and then placing it on the roof of the car wasn’t stupid enough, Yeager did it out of necessity, not because she thought it would be a fun way for her kids to ride. She told the cops that she had her daughters jump in so as to not lose the pool on the ride home. Apparently, she’d been into town to have it inflated and only then realized she had no means to secure it to the roof. So she asked the girls to get inside, while she drove home.

“Jennifer A. Janus Yeager, 49, was charged with two counts of endangering the health or life of a child and two counts of reckless conduct,” the report notes. “She also was cited for failure to secure a passenger under the age of 8, and failure to secure a passenger under the age of 16.”

Yeager was taken into custody, posted bail and was set free. Luckily, the children weren’t hurt during the (insane) ride.

Needless to say, driving with children should only happen when the minors are safely strapped in their carseats and / or seatbelts. They must not be hanging out open windows, allowed on the roof of a moving car or, as was the case here, used as deadweights to secure oversize loads. As funny as the visual of this kids & pool-topped Q5 might seem, it was an incredibly dangerous and reckless stunt to pull.
