Influencers are a dime a dozen these days, but only a handful of them can boast of building a fortune off their work. The Yacht Mogul is not thinking about getting rich today but planning to strike gold tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
The Yacht Mogul is the self-described number one superyacht influencer on social media. His real name is Denis Suka, and he boasts a following of over 347,000 followers, which is not impressive if you compare him with celebrity influencers or even carfluencers (this is what they call influencers in the automotive world). But the figure is impressive for yachting.

The Yacht Mogul delivers varied content, from viral video reposts to superyachts and supercars, whether real or still in concept stage. He does not offer original content, so his goal seems to have always been that of becoming famous enough so he could charge others to post on his channel.

He may be thinking of crossing over to the other side. In November this year, with help from Bhushan Powar Design Studio, the influencer revealed his own superyacht concept, which he’s calling Mogul. He doesn’t get any points for showing originality in naming it, but that’s not what he’s going for.

That would be a truly disruptive design.

The idea behind this concept is to deliver something different from what everyone else is doing in the industry and, at the same time, a vessel that puts together everything a very wealthy potential customer would want, since the project was done with feedback from his considerable following.

“My biggest goal is to bring something different to the yachting industry,” he said at the unveiling, adding that Mogul “takes the name to the next level” for a “wealthy, visionary owner.” In a more recent chat with The Robb Report, the influencer elaborates: the main motive behind Mogul was so he would turn influencer for a billionaire looking for his or her next toy.

“My vision for Project Mogul was to take the Mogul name to the next level and to influence one super-wealthy owner to build it and feel extra special at sea,” he says. “The owner can have 180-degree views from the bed and enjoy seeing the superyacht sailing in open seas. Who wouldn’t want that?”

Mogul is 90 meters (295 feet) long and features an angular bow, and sharp, moderately aggressive lines. It’s packed with amenities and would presumably be very fast and efficient, but on that latter count, the influencer doesn’t go into specifics. Presumably, the future owner would have the final say on this, so he’s leaving it open.

Amenities include a touch-and-go helipad at the bow, and a massive infinity pool on the aft deck, both with direct access from the private owner’s deck. The owner’s suite is here, and it stands out for allowing breathtaking surrounding views at sea, both thanks to its elevated position and floor-to-ceiling windows. As the influencer puts it, the owner could sit in his bed in pajamas, and he or she would still be able to take in the stunning views. Or chill in the jacuzzi while doing the same.

There’s also a large swim platform and beach club situated aft, as well as several decks optimized either for sunbathing or lounging. A second jacuzzi is on one of these sundecks. The finishes, such as they’re presented in renders, are elegant and luxurious, but in a surprisingly restrained manner. Two large garages on each side of the Mogul would house tenders, day boats and assorted water toys.

For all this talk about how Mogul would push the design envelope and break new ground, it hardly does so. It’s ultra-luxurious alright but we’ve seen much better.

On a final note, as preposterous as the idea that an influencer could design a superyacht and then sell the concept to a real person for millions might be, it should probably not come as much of a surprise. Influencers have crossed over or expressed a desire to do so before: Supercar Blondie has spoken about designing her own car (for women, of course), and fashion designers and cosmetic giants have given countless influencers their own products or collections, legitimizing them.

Sure, a superyacht is more expensive than a lipstick kit or a supercar, so the comparison can only go this far. But it could happen, you know?
