The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is, for all intents and purposes, the hottest smartphone in recent memory. Literally. Not only has the Galaxy Note 7 recall wiped $14+ billion off Samsung shares since the problem was identified at the beginning of September, but the Note 7’s battery also wiped out a Jeep.
As you can see from the adjacent Fox 13 News report, an older Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with the 6.1-liter HEMI V8 engine caught fire after the owner’s Galaxy Note 7 went kaboom. According to the owner, Nathan Dornacher, his all-new smartphone was charging in the car went things went downhill.

We feel bad for Nathan, especially because the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s engine was bored out to 6.4 liters, but it’s even worse to see your pride and joy totaled by a frigging phone. This is but one of the 2.5 million or thereabout Galaxy Note 7 smartphones Samsung is recalling to replace the faulty lithium-ion battery.

That’s not cool for a device that starts from $850 in the U.S., which is touted as the best phone ever made by Samsung. Happily, however, the South Korean manufacturer has set to replace all 2.5 million devices susceptible to battery problems, starting from September 19. The Jeep that had met its maker in a fiery death won’t be replaced, though. But on the upside for Nathan, his car was insured.

Commenting on what happened to the sorry-looking Jeep in the adjacent video, a Samsung spokesperson declared: “We aware of the incident and we are working with Mr. Dornacher to investigate his case and ensure we do everything we can for him.”

Don’t mind my French, but what can Samsung do after this guy’s car got totaled by fire? Give him an iPhone 7? I'm not sure about that, plus the new iPhone doesn't have an audio jack because Apple is a special kind of fruit.
