There's no denying that modern-day muscle cars are at least as awesome as the 1960s and 1970s originals that kickstarted the genre. And while the connection between the two obviously places a strong emphasis on design, there's quite a distance between the Golden Era and the contemporary look. Well, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 rendering sitting before us comes to highlight that.
Since this is a pixel portrait, there's no reason to fret - nobody has sacrificed a rare bird to build this thing. With that out of the way, we can focus on the said aim - if we compare this rendered model to the 2020 GT500, all the styling differences speak of the deeper aspects that set the two apart. And we'll tip our helmets to Carnewsnetwork for this work.

Looking past the obvious era-driven differences, the original GT500, which joined the GT350 for the 1967 model year, was still an effort divided between Ford and Carroll Shelby. The latter worked on the cars via his Los Angeles facility, with Ford deciding to end this in the first half of 1977 - the two sides ended their agreement in 1969.

These days, the original Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 market is alive and kicking. In fact, we discussed two examples of this last month. The first, a 1968 model, involved a neglected example that was believed to be an original. And, after spending many years in decay, it was fortunately delivered a second chance.

As for the second, this is a 1969 model packing the Ford-redesigned front end. Zooming in even further, we're talking about one of the just ten examples built for the Japanese market, with this being in pristine condition. However, unlike the unit mentioned above, which has apparently found a home, albeit with this possibly being a temporary one, this ‘69 car was listed for sale.
