In many ways, contemporary muscle cars one-up the 1960s and 1970s originals, from sheer horsepower to handling abilities. However, the contemporary times can't hold a candle to the Golden Era in terms of exuberance, with this being translated in the diversity of models, for instance. And one of the heroes that's been retired for quite a while is the Pontiac Firebird, while the rendering sitting before us attempts to revive this.
Following the demise of the Pontiac brand in 2010, we've seen multiple attempts at bringing back the Firebird Trans Am. Based on the fifth-gen Chevrolet Camaro, as well as on the current sixth-gen Chevy, these real-world revivals targeted various incarnations of the Firebird's second incarnation.

Well, the pixel portrait sitting before us aims to revive the original Firebird. And, as you can imagine, mixing 1960s styling cues with the fresh design of the Gen VI Camaro (this is the ZL1) wasn't an easy task.

Nevertheless, digital label Tuningcarps managed to achieve this relying solely on smartphone editing and you can see the result, as well as the intermediate steps of the process, thanks to the Instagram posts below - you'll also find the exact model that served as a muse.

As for the cabin transformation pictured here, a real-world Firebird impersonation would obviously require some extra efforts.

This shenanigan might seem a bit familiar and that's because the said label recently pulled a similar stunt, albeit while using a 1979 Firebird Trans Am as inspiration.

Returning to the exuberance mentioned in the intro, the original Firebird was born in 1967, debuting at the same time as its platform sibling, the Camaro, with the aim of competing against the Ford Mustang and its plusher brother, the Mercury Cougar.

Truth be told, Pontiac was aiming even higher at the time, since the brand wanted to turn its Banshee concept cars into a sportscar line, but GM feared this would cannibalize the Corvette. However, the Firebird, which was offered in both coupe and convertible form, went on to become more than just a silver medal.
