Some guys from Hungary woke up one day and thought: hey, what if we could make total fools out of ourselves and claim we can improve perfection? Apparently it wasn’t just a dream for them and even set out to make things happen, coming out with a ludicrous ‘modernizing’ kit for the iconic BMW E30 3 Series they called 'concept30'.
In case you've been living in a cave for the last 30 years, the E30 3 Series was and is still considered one of the best looking Bimmers of all time, withstanding the test of time over and over again. Today, E30s are considered a better investment than gold thanks to both their driving feel and their looks that will remain iconic for as long as cars will still have wheels.
Trying to ‘modernize’ such a thing can only be included in the ‘absolute craziness’ category. Think of it this way: would you try to do the same thing to a 507 Roadster or a Bugatti Atlantic (yeah, we compared the E30 to the legendary Bugatti, that’s how important this car is to any BMW fanatic)? I don’t think so!
Now these guys (they call themselves TMCARS) come around and tell you that you should pay them $4,000 (plus tax) to make your 3er look like an old Lada? No thank you!
The only thing that’s remotely interesting to look at here are the headlights that do have a certain appeal to them (and cost $1,100 more) but that’s about it. The thing they didn't understand is that people instantly recognize the styling of the E30 and they love it because it imposes respect. What does thins thing do?
Getting over the suffocating fury that is trying us right now, we’d like to know your opinion on the matter. Would you ruin your classic E30 with such an abomination? Would you even stop and think about it?
