What would be the best corporate branding to use on a tuning project targeting the brand new and quite controversial Toyota Auris hatchback? A famous brand of Russian vodka, an expensive brand of cigarettes? No, that would be too simple and mainstream in Japan, the land that invented giant robots battling Godzilla.
The theme chosen by Modellista, Toyota’s in-house customizer, for one of the very first Auris project is a famous anime from the 70s from what we gather. Mobile Suit Gundam used to be an animated series aired in Japan between 1979 and 1980. In it, Char Aznable is a fictional character (duh) who pilots a giant robot called a gundam.

For his actions, Char is given the honorary title of "The Red Comet", something which is abundantly clear from the way this Toyota is customized.

The Auris gets a red paitjob with Char’s logo on it. It’s also got “Achtung” all over, which means the character came from some Germanic character.

The tuning project itself is pretty cool. The Auris gets custom headlights, bonnet vents, new front bumper, special exhaust (Black Bison maybe?) and a set of 18-inch black ally wheels.
