Model X and Custom Arachnid 21" Wheels as Prize for Tesla's New Referral Program

Tesla's previous iterations of the Referral Program proved to be successful, so the company has announced the fourth edition started on May 30 and will last for one month and a half, until July 15.
"Wait, you're two days late," you're going to say, and that would be a very correct and logical observation, it's just that it took Tesla the same amount of time to release the full details for this version of the program. So, besides $1,000 in credit for the acquisition of a Model S or Model X, those who succeed in convincing other people to buy Teslas have a host of other prizes to choose from.

Well, they can't really be too picky about it as it all depends on the number of qualifying referrals they make. So, starting from the bottom to the top, anyone who manages at least one more successful referral than the initial one will receive a Tesla Moab Weekender Bag matching their car's interior. Made from the same fabric as the cars' seats, the bags are part of a new selection of branded products as Tesla attempts to profit as much as it can off its brand's image.

Moving one step up, three referrals will earn "an exclusive Tesla Owners Jacket," which is something you'd expect to hear from a Harley Davidson promotional event, but we guess there's no reason Tesla can't do it as well. We don't know what it looks like, but we're willing to bet it's made of the same leather as the Tesla Moab Weekender Bag.

Four referrals will get you an invitation to Tesla's grand opening of its Gigafactory in Reno, Nevada, set for July 29. The prize includes transportation from Reno to the plant, but it doesn't say anything about how you get there or accommodations, so you're on your own. The worst prize so far, if you ask us.

Finally, five or more referrals are rewarded with a set of 21" custom Arachnid wheels that come in black, gray or silver, complete with summer tires and installation. These rims are not available for purchase, so wearing them is akin to writing "I've made five referrals, suckers" in big print on your car. Of course, nothing's stopping you from doing both.

But the real prize here is the Tesla Model X P90D Ludicrous that anyone making at least one qualified referral can win. However, those who make more receive one extra entry for each of the referrals so, as usual, more is better. So, it looks like this is the time of year when Tesla owners turn into sales agents and try to convince people to buy an electric car. This time, however, it might be a bit more difficult since everybody will be waiting for the Model 3 sedan that's just around the corner.
