Baseball infielder for the San Diego Padres Everth Cabrera was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana early Wednesday morning in eastern San Diego County. According to California Highway Patrol the baseball star got pulled over while driving on state Route 94.
Not really good news for the 27-year old baseball player considering his recent problems with the Biogenesis incident. In case you’re not up to date with this fellow’s records, let us do a little bit of recap. During spring training of 2013, Everth Cabrera’s name was reported to have appeared in documents retrieved from the Biogenesis clinic which listed him as having received the clinic’s products.

At first the sportsman denied the accusations, but the investigation later on proved he was guilty. In August, MLB suspended him and 12 other players for involvement with the clinic. They all received 50-game suspensions, all of whom made a deal with MLB to not appeal the decision.

In a press conference on the day of his suspension, Cabrera admitted to taking a banned substance and stated that he did not initially seek out the substance, but it was presented to him by a consultant employed by his former agents. The same agency has been linked to all 12 players who received 50-game suspension in the scandal.

You see, this is the reason we’re pretty sure Cabrera has since been very careful and chances authorities prove he was really driving under the influence are low. Nevertheless, according to the UT San Diego, Cabrera was stopped by the Border Patrol, held at the SR-94 checkpoint near Dulzura and turned over to the CHP. He was transported back to the CHP’s El Cajon area office.

Upon arrival at the office, he was not showing signs of still being under the influence of marijuana. Subsequently, he was cited and released to the custody of his mother-in-law. Mr. Cabrera was cooperative with the CHP officers,” the CHP said in a press release.
