MkI Golf Becomes Volksrod

The Rat-Rod cult started expanding in Europe through the well known 50’s VW Beetle. By letting the body rust a bit, ditching the curved fenders and the interior, lowering the suspension and even chopping the roof, the old Beetle looks like a proper mean rat rod.

Recently, YouTube videos show that the “In rust we trust” phenomenon spread to other European cars as well, like this Volkswagen Golf MkI. His creator took the battered outer shell of the original car, chopped and bolted it to a custom chassis. To make it look like a proper rod, the four-banger was replaced with an oily small-block Chrysler V8. The interior is not the same either, as its been stripped down to bare metal and feature a big handmade tunnel transmission in the middle.

Although purists may not consider this oddity a proper rat-rod, not using a vehicle from the 40’s or 50’s, we say that its a really head-turner and we are eager to see more old European cars being rodded out.
