The upcoming new MINI is almost done. The fact that BMW is currently testing it on the track seems to point in this general direction.
The new MINI will have some subtle changes done to the outside, whilst the interior will be undergoing some more hardcore redesigning. The center speedo is rumored to be replaced by a more practical instrumented area alongside new styling cues.
The model caught in these spyshots suggests it's a MINI Cooper S. You can tell by the wider and longer body, the air intake on the bonnet and the rear bumper with the two centered tailpipes.
Furthermore, the Mk3 MINI will have a reshaped front grille, longer hood and slimmer A-pillars. Under the bonnet, BMW might incorporate the new 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine to bring a bit of new technology to the British model and a bit more power.
In case this won't happen, we can expect the 1.6-liter 4-pot unit to be quite the same with around 180 HP for the S version and 220 HP for the JCW.
