Mitsubishi Upgrades Pajero's Safety Pack

The Australian division of Mitsubishi announced the release of the 2011 Pajero line-up. The company has upgraded the safety equipment of its highly acclaimed Pajero SUV, adding side and curtain airbags to every vehicle in the entire Pajero line-up.

The popular four-wheel drive wagon also received a reversing sensor and cargo blind on the GLS trim level, while the VRX trim now features loads of standard equipment including Rockford Acoustic Design 12 speaker premium audio package, high intensity discharge headlamps with auto levelling, headlamp washers, rain sensing wipers, dusk sensing headlamps and a cargo blind.

The side and curtain airbags are just a small portion of what Mitsubishi crammed into the Pajero with standard features across the range already including Active Stability Control (ASC), Active Traction Control (ATC), Engine Brake Assist Control (EBAC), Super Select 4WD II, Multi-mode Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), and Mitsubishi Body Optimised Suspension (MBOS). Topping the list is Mitsubishi’s MATT (Mitsubishi’s All Terrain Technology), a superior four-wheel drive technology that ensures every Pajero grips the ground the way it ought to.

Powering the Pajero are either a 3.2-litre Common Rail Direct Injection Diesel delivering 147kW (197 hp) of power and 441Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque, or a 3.8-litre V6 MIVEC engine offering 184kW (246 hp) of power and 329Nm (242 lb-ft) of torque.

"The Pajero is recognised for its superior performance, both on and off the road, and the range just keeps on getting better and better." said MMAL Vice President of brand and marketing, Paul Unerkov during the release of the new model.

After a strong year-to-date sales result we expect this upgraded model line up to be even more sought after,” Unerkov said.

The Pajero (or Montero in Spain, India and the Americas, Shogun in the UK) was first unveiled in November 1973. Since its launch, the model has enjoyed world-wide recognition and was produced in more than 2.5 million examples.
