Mitsubishi to Bring European-spec i-MiEV to Paris

Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi announced today it will premiere the European-spec version of the i-MiEV all-electric vehicle at the upcoming Paris Auto Show. The model will be rolled out in December in 14 European countries, including France, the United Kingdom and Germany.

According to Mitsubishi, pricing of the European-spec i-MiEV will differ by country but will be set to around EUR33,000 – EUR35,000 (or equivalent), batteries included.

Compared to the Japanese market version, the European-spec includes features such as a new design of the front and rear bumpers in order to help it meet EU regulations, a redesigned centre stack in the instrument panel, as well as improved interior comfort.

Furthermore, safety highlights include the addition of Active Stability Control (ASC) as well as side and curtain airbags, all standard equipment.

To celebrate 40 years of electric development at Mitsubishi Motors, a further display will present the 1989 Mitsubishi Minicab EV for the first time in Europe, as part of “The Incredible Collection” heritage show. The car has been, in fact, the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show electric show car.

Other highlights in Mitsubishi’s booth at the 2010 Paris Auto Show include the new ASX (RVR in Japan) compact crossover, the Lancer Sportback (Galant Fortis Sportback in Japan), and the new Outlander 2.2 DiD mid-size crossover.

The 2010 Paris Auto Show will be held at Paris Expo – Porte de Versailles in Paris, France from September 30 to October 17.
