Japanese automaker Mitsubishi has announced plans to introduce three brand new concept vehicles at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show next month. The company says the concepts were designed to preview its future styling direction and “next-generation advanced technologies that embody the concept of environmental responsibility, driving pleasure, toughness and safety.”
The first concept, a full-size SUV named GC-PHEV, is a vehicle powered by a plug-in hybrid electric system that comes with Mitsubishi’s S-AWC system (Super All Wheel Control) and “next-generation preventive safety technology and driver support technology through wireless connectivity.”
The second vehicle, Concept XR-PHEV, previews a future compact and lightweight SUV that will be powered by a highly efficient PHEV system. It will feature a sport coupe-like design and offer “nimble drivability”. Lastly, Mitsubishi will showcase Concept AR (Active Runabout), a compact MPV “that offers both the mobility of an SUV and the occupant space of an MPV”.
