Mitsubishi RVR Compact Crossover Goes on Sale

Shortly after it first unveiling in December, the new compact crossover RVR from Mitsubishi can now be found in dealerships throughout Japan at an accessible price, the carmaker says. The RVR, which is the name to be used in Japan only, will wear a price tag between 1,785,000 - 2,449,650 Japanese yen (approx. $20,000 - $27,000).

The car, expected to be dubbed Outlander Sport when it will go on sale in overseas markets, is powered by a 1.8-liter MIVEC petrol engine mated to a INVECS*2–III sport mode 6-speed CVT.transmission . Mitsubishi, however, did not release any performance details of the new compact crossover.

The powerplant specifically optimized to return the perfect combination of reduced fuel consumption, minimum emissions and large power output. A lightweight body will contribute to all these aspects. According to the carmaker, all models will therefore qualify for the Japanese eco-car tax reduction.

“The RVR also incorporates super-wide HID headlights which provide a wide, ultra-bright beam for safe night driving, a panoramic glass roof (with LED illumination) for a sense of spaciousness during the day and a romantic ambiance at night, and push-button ignition. The vehicle has a refined and sporty interior with a black color scheme, silver highlights, and smooth, soft padding,” a company statement reads.

The RVR is equipped with an advanced in-car entertainment including a terrestrial digital TV tuner HDD navigation system and a “link system” with USB, Bluetooth and other connections for music players and other external devices.
