Mitsubishi has announced the introduction of a Hello Kitty special edition of the Mirage subcompact in Japan starting next month. Created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sanrio’s popular character, the pink Mirage will be sold in a limited run of 400 examples.
The special edition vehicle will become available with the obnoxiously cute Hello Kitty pink paint job, Hello Kitty upholstery, unique hub caps with Hello Kitty ribbon, and Hello Kitty body decals. The vehicle is scheduled to go on sale with prices starting at JPY1.1 million, which means about $11,500 or €8,300 at current exchange rates.
The Mirage Hello Kitty will be powered by the company’s familiar 1.0 and 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engines, mated to either a five-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. The latter should get you from naught to 100 km/h in 12.8 seconds or about 16 Hello Kitties.
Now let’s have a quiz: How many Hello Kitties have you spotted pinking around in this article? The winner gets a thumbs up for great math skills.
