Apparently, the cars which are already in stock will be sold off, but no further stocks will be brought to UK shores. One of the reasons cited for the move is the strong Yen, and the impact it would have on the car’s pricing, which would be considerably higher.

According to Lance Bradley, Mitsu’s UK Managing Director, “We used to sell the Evo for £30k; now we would have to charge £60k,” then going on to say that “The UK is an exceptionally important market for the Evo [. . .] In our peak year we sold 1400 units.

However, it’s not all bad news, as the UK will be involved in the development and testing of the current EVO’s yet-unannounced successor. The next-gen Lancer is expected to hit British shores in 2014, but a performance version of it hasn’t been confirmed, yet!
